What I do:

My private practice in cognitive behaviour therapy focuses on teaching skills which allow people to:

  manage moods

  improve relationships

  increase self-confidence

  overcome stress

step over barriers to creativity and accomplishment

Insurance companies such as BUPA, AXA PPP and AVIVA refer patients to me for depression, anxiety problems, stress management, interpersonal problems, and adjustment disorders.

My Approach

I use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) . CBT has lots of sound research behind it that shows it works. It is a scientifically proven, effective way to manage your moods and feel good again. It is recommended by NICE as the therapy of choice for most mental health issues. If you want to know more go to www.babcp.com. Or you can read my book which is called Becoming Resilient: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to Transform Your Life. CBT enables you to look at the relationships between your thoughts, feelings and behaviour and how they interact to influence or create your reality. CBT uses a here-and-now approach though sometimes it is helpful to understand the childhood origins of current problems. It enables  people to look for their hidden strengths and helps them build resilience in the face of stress and worry.

As effective adjuncts to CBT I also use:

Mindfulness Meditation

Schema Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Transactional Analysis

Can You Make Your Own Appointment?

  • Yes, you can email me directly at nimmihutnik@yahoo.com to make an appointment. I will then ask you to call me for a brief 5-10 min chat so that I can work out if my skills match your needs. If my schedule is full up I will write back to you and tell you so.

  • Sometimes people are referred by a friend or an Insurance Company.

Is your visit covered by the NHS ?

  • No. Psychologists in private practice in the UK are not covered by the NHS. Sometimes, before starting therapy it is a good idea to have a check-up with your GP to see if a problem, for example, depression or anxiety, has an underlying medical cause.

What about Private Insurance?

  • Many people have health insurance plans through work which covers my fees Thus far I have provided services to several insurance companies such as BUPA, AXA-PPP and AVIVA.

Fees:

£130-175 per 50 minute session during office hours (10-4 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays only)

How many sessions will you need:

The number of sessions will depend on the goals that you have for yourself and the issues that you are dealing with. Some people need only 6 sessions. Others need longer.

How Does This Work?

People come for 50 minute appointments, usually once every week or two to begin with.  The idea is to come for only as many sessions as you need to understand your situation, to set goals, and to learn how to work towards them.

Contact MeContact me at nimmihutnik@yahoo.com or at +447896997401 briefly outlining your issue (no more than 150 words max or 5-10 mins on the phone).
